How God Saved Isaac
The Story Of How God Saved Isaac
On August 3rd, early in the morning at nearly 1 a.m., God allowed us to witness a true miracle! The miracle of a repentant sinner being saved by God’s grace through placing their faith in Jesus Christ.
Witnessing the Harvest
As servants faithfully sowing and watering seeds (sharing the gospel with the lost), it is not everyday that we witness the harvest. We acknowledge it is God who gives the increase, and according to the parable of the seed sower in the Gospel of Matthew, not all of the seeds will take root. Not everyone who first hears the gospel will immediately experience Godly sorrow for their sins and repent, turning toward Christ and placing their trust in Him.
For some, a seed is planted and it can be many years until that seed is watered and grows and bears fruit. If we are blessed enough to witness the final stages of someone repenting and placing their trust in Christ, God had used many others before us to plant and water that original gospel seed sown.
The beginnings of a miracle
On August 2nd, Chris felt the urge to create and upload a new TikTok video about how to evangelize in 2 minutes, which also welcomed and invited viewers to join our discord server. This is where we have additional evidence for God, to give a reason [1 Peter 3:15] why you should believe and better explain the path to salvation. This is also where people can ask us questions and get Biblical answers, as well as live Bible Studies and fellowship events.
That Tuesday night we had an online Bible study in our Ministry’s Discord Server, exegeting the texts and studying through the Book of James with some of our members.
Afterwards several of us continued to hang out and ended up praising and worshiping God together. We listened to several hymns and worship songs together which led to some shameless singing and praising of the Lord. We had continued this for some time and as it got later we had decided it was about time to log off and call it a night heading off to bed. During the last minute of our spontaneous worship session, as the last song was coming to a close, we heard the notification sound that someone new had joined our discord server… When this person joined they sent a simple message in the general chat:
We considered it could just be someone messing with us, we decided we should take the opportunity to see if this person was being genuine. That’s when we saw this person join the public voice chat room, and without any hesitation we all jumped in to join them!
Connecting with the lost across the world
That’s how we met 14 year old Isaac, from all the way across the U.S. in Texas, and for some of us all the way across the World. When we joined we immediately knew this wasn’t a trick, and it wasn’t a joke. Isaac was already in tears, and between short sobs and breaths he tried to get out what he could.
“Hey Buddy, are you alright? What’s going on? Is there any way we can help you?”
As Steven spoke the words to inquire and console Isaac, he felt his own chest tighten and eyes well up feeling the pain being expressed through Isaacs voice. Steven knew these tears well, probably better than some (see his conversion story (here). These were tears of a broken person, a broken sinner being broken by falling on the Cornerstone Himself (Matthew 21:44). These weren’t ordinary tears, these tears belonged to a broken and contrite heart, a spirit ready to give it all up…
“I-I just, I just saw the TikTok video, a-and I have been crying for a while now. My mom might have cancer, we’re waiting on the test results. But for the past few days I can’t stop thinking about where she would go if she died, and where I would go if I died… and I… I know where I would go right now… and it’s not where I want it to be.”
Isaac could barely get the words out as he cried. We planned on giving Isaac the gospel, and we would start out how Jesus did, by exposing the lost person to the law first.
Steven: “Isaac, can I ask you a question? Would you consider yourself to be a good person?”
Isaac: “A good- What?! NO! NO! You don’t understand I am wicked! I am a sinner! I know I have sinned against God, I know I have broken his law and I’m damned! I’m going to Hell!”
The answer honestly came as a bit of a surprise.
Steven: “Wow, uh.. ok…”
Isaac: “Listen, I know I must repent, I know I have to turn from my sins, I know I need Jesus. I just don't know what to do, or how.“
"I don’t know how to tell God I’m sorry, I haven’t prayed in years and years. I don’t know how to start or what to say, I don’t know what to do. I have been crying about all of this, and trying to just go to sleep, and hoping this feeling would go away, but I couldn’t stop crying or fall asleep.”
“So I cried out to God for help…”
“Afterwards, I opened TikTok and your video showed up and I saw you inviting people to your discord server, and so… here I am. “
“I figured maybe I could talk to someone that could help me.”
Sharing the gospel
Isaac was experiencing Godly sorrow which scripture tells us works repentance [Corinthians 7:10]. It was clear that all of this was divine intervention, gifted by God Himself for both Isaac and us. God had truly prepared Isaac’s heart for this moment. Having seen this unmistakable display of conviction and contrition before, we knew what needed to come next…
So we shared the gospel with Isaac, the same gospel of Christ crucified for sin that Paul preached. Preaching who Jesus is, what Jesus had done, and how it was by placing all of his faith in Christ alone that he would be saved. We explained how it was a true heart belief and how there were no special words to say, that it wasn’t the actual words that saves anyone, but rather the condition of his heart.
Prayers
We asked Isaac if we could pray with him, and Isaac agreed. In prayer we thanked God for leading Isaac to us, we thanked God for Isaac’s contrite and repentant heart, we thanked God for what He has done to save us, and we thanked God for Isaac hearing the gospel and prayed he would confess his belief to the Lord, and have his name forever written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. We prayed Isaac would turn toward Jesus and follow Him.
We prayed that Isaac would place all of his trust in Jesus Christ alone for his salvation, that Isaac would be given a new heart and a new spirit [Ezekiel 36:26-27], that he would be born again and made a new creation in Jesus. All of us present praised God for what He was doing at that moment. We humbly thanked Him, exalted Him, glorified Him and praised Him for allowing us to witness His miracle of salvation at work.
Although a little apprehensive to pray out loud, Isaac professed he wanted to pray his own prayer. We told him he didn’t need to do it out loud if he didn’t want to. We told him he could do so in the quiet of his own mind, God could still hear his cry. He asked us what he should pray, and how. We told him he should simply confess to God what he had already said to us. That if he wanted to turn to God, and away from his sins, that if he truly believed in Jesus Christ, and wanted to place all of his faith in Him alone, that he should tell God everything he said to us. With a final word of encouragement, we told him just to talk to God, and lay out whatever was on his heart, whatever it was he wanted to say.
After a few minutes of silence broken up by a few sobs and sniffles, we heard Isaac take a really deep breath and let it all out, afterwards he spoke. Except this time when he spoke he sounded very different. The change in his voice was almost startling. Isaac had given it all up to God in that moment.
A peace beyond all understanding
Isaac’s voice came out clearly and calmly, it was apparent he was completely and totally at peace:
“Thanks guys… I don’t even know what to say but thank God for leading me to you. Thank God, because at exactly 12:42, on August 3rd of 2022, God saved me, and I know it… I’ve never felt like this before, what even is this peace? I can’t wait to tell my mom and grandma! They always told me about Jesus, they always told me about being saved, but I never understood until right now. They are going to be so happy! I am so happy to know we are all going to be in heaven together one day!”
Isaac was experiencing the peace beyond all understanding [Philippians 4:7] after being born again [John 3], and receiving a new heart and a new spirit, the Holy Spirit [Ezekiel 36:26-27].This is the greatest miracle anyone can experience or witness… and we Praise God alone for it.
The LORD is nigh… [Psalm 34:18]
After not praying for 4 years, in a moment of humility, loneliness and desperation, Isaac cried out to God in a prayer to save him and God did just that. Through TikTok of all places, God had led Isaac to our ministry at the exact perfect time. With a truly contrite and repentant heart, recognizing who he was in his sin, Isaac turned toward God, away from his sin, and believed in Jesus Christ by finally placing all his trust and faith in Jesus for his eternal salvation.
Afterwards, we all joyfully giggled as our emotions and praise for God bubbled over. We sang songs of praise together to worship our Lord. We all rejoiced that Isaac’s name was forever written in the Lamb’s book of life. Our Ministry is still praising God continually not only for Isaac’s salvation, but also that He allowed us to witness this miracle. We praise God that He allowed us to play some infinitely small role in being able to bless and serve Isaac by serving the Lord. We will never forget the early morning of August 3rd, and will forever praise our Lord for the blessing of being able to witness His miracle, His Glory and His power.
What about suffering?
We remain in prayer for Isaac’s mother’s health condition, but at the same time, we must recognize and continually praise the Lord for using such a painful and uncertain situation, as the method He used to call Isaac to Him. He used this situation by having Isaac think about his own eternal state after examining his mothers, and reviewing his sin and showing Isaac his need to repent. God uses all things for good [Romans 8:28] and he never lets a hurt go to waste. Never blame God for something bad, but to count it all as blessings [James 1:2-3], knowing He will use it for Good!
Have you cried out to God?
Dear reader, do just as Isaac did… cry out to God! Pray to the Lord and bring all of your burdens to the foot of the cross. Our God is good, merciful, kind, loving, just, and desires all men to repent and come to salvation [2 Peter 3:9]. His ways are not our ways [Isaiah 55:8-9], trust in Him with all of your Heart! [Proverbs 3:5-6].
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise”
This WAY, this TRUTH , this LIFE… this PROMISE, is for YOU also!
[2 Peter 3:9, John 14:6]
Full-Time Missionaries
Having an online ministry reaching the lost and preaching the gospel online, both in Virtual Reality, and even through TikTok sounds strange and bizarre, we know, it’s not traditional. While we are not flying across the globe and living in the Amazon Jungle reaching lost tribes, we acknowledge it’s not just lost tribes in some far off Jungle that need to hear the gospel. All across the world, your neighbor, your family, your friend, that stranger you pass by, that kid who lives across the street who is inside playing video games every day, the 3 billion gamers across the globe, yes they all need the gospel too. Please consider partnering with this ministry, so we can continue to reach others like Isaac. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable religious organization and all donations are tax deductible.
